If I quote another source, will I be penalized for duplicate content?




As you all know, Google is pretty hard-up about duplicate content, now more than ever, because an awful lot of blogs and websites have started making money by blatantly copying material from other sources. This not only is unfair to the original source, it also jeopardizes the integrity of search results returned by Google. Hence the stringent TOS (Terms of Service). But what about adding quotations, or sentences/paragraphs quoted from other websites? It does classify as content copied directly from another website. So how does Google treat such content and is it safe to include it on your website? Well, Google just released a video explaining how Google treats such content.

Making Terms of Service more clear




It is generally accepted that acknowledging "I have read, and agree to the terms of services..." is the biggest lie on the internet. I don't read them, and you don't read them (most probably). Nobody reads them, and you know it, even if most people won't admit it just to sound smart. Even the companies who write them know it. Well, I don't blame them. The fact of the matter is, most ToS are freakishly long, and heavily laden with legal jargon only lawyers are supposed to understand. Some ToS are just plain ridiculous. Well, now there's a service, TOS-DR, that intends to end this rule of ignorance by bringing some companies' (like Facebook, Twitter, Skype etc) ToS closer to the layman user's level of comprehension.

How To report Paid Links To Google?



Yesterday, you read about Google PageRank Update Nov 2011. As most of us know by now, that the only way to success in the blogging world, that has a long term effect, is only through continuous posting of original content. But sometimes, as in the case with Copyright issues, people often steal quality content from other blogs and try to enjoy their hard work.





This is what Google has always tried to fight against with. People, often with meager webmaster experience, waste quite a bit of money in buying paid links. What they believe would give them ultimate success, in terms of high page rank followed by massive traffic.
